Young people aren't the only one's addicted to technology

Can we all agree that stating something is social awkward, is what makes it awkward. If no one said that we would be fine. I might also add that if it wasn't for people, we wouldn't be socially awkward. Okay this has been sufficiently awkward now. You are feeling awkward right now because I keep using awkward in sentences. Awkward.
Society creates social behavior and then anything different from society's expectations is just "strange" or "wrong"
Remember those friends from high school that we haven't really kept in touch with, or haven't seen since high school? Maybe only seen them on Facebook?

Why is it that we find it "awkward" when we're back in town from college and run into that one "friend" Is it because we don't like social interaction?

To get straight to the point. The main reason is because we're lazy. We don't want to go into detail about out life since high school because frankly it's been years and also who wants to talk to someone who's seen you go through those awkward stages in high school and possibly even puberty? Unless it's someone you've kept in touch with, you really don't want to see them.

Okay, this is assuming you're me. Most normal people wouldn't mind striking up a conversation and boasting about their lives.

A recent study has shown that teens who blog helps diminish socially awkwardness. Well, I guess that's too bad for me because I'm not a teen anymore. The study stated that posting a narrative of social awkward situations on blogs can help alleviate Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) that teens experience due to unfortunate social situations.
Now that's all good and well, but what about someone who's not a teen and say in college? Or even older? And you're still experiencing this stuff. Get therapy.

No, it's not a joke and it shouldn't be such a taboo. Yes, there's a huge stigma behind it, but getting your mental health in check is just like getting your physical health in line. This stigma in my opinion is the reason we have kids shooting up schools.

Another recent article stated that parents have been spending to much time on their smart phones and that teens are being ignored by their parents. The children are begging for attention from their parents, but the parents are ignoring their teens. Yes, this was slightly shocking for me. Then I thought about it and it made perfect sense. The study included the difference between teens using smart phones and social media and parents. They found the teens who used smart phones interacted with other peers more and were much more social than their parents. The parents were found to have just been staring at their phones without engaging in any conversation with anyone around them.

I'd recommend reading this Rolling Stone article from 1999 by Marilyn Manson because it's still very relevant even in 2014.

Are you a hypocrite?

Why are we all hypocrites? Do as I say, not as I do. Do we realize how ignorant that is? This is something I wish everyone knew. Stop lying to yourself and you'll live longer. It's like a burden is lifted off your shoulders. Invest in yourself. No, it's not selfish. Okay, it's selfish. Then invest in other people. Caveat: You can't invest in others if you can't invest in yourself.

If that's a bit vague for you let me be more specific. Specificity is the child of elaboration.
Make yourself smarter, stronger, better, faster. No this isn't daft punk, this is real life.
You have a choice every day to either be a hive mind and hide behind everything and live in your own little bubble. This is your choice. I offer a better solution. What if someone told you that something happening thousands of miles away from you is affecting you in every possible way you can imagine.
China's pollution problem isn't getting any better. Did you know the pollution from China, is reaching the United States? Okay, so maybe you don't care. Maybe you just think okay I'll die and my descendants can all just die from pollution, so what? Why do you get to live a better life? Because you're Black, White, or Asian? Because you happen to live in this side of the world? Because you're Christian or Jewish?

Follow me down a path to a glorious revolution. One that's filled with meaning and profundity. One that will keep you thinking and continue your thoughts into a realm that you have never been to. The way we live on this planet and the way we live our lives each day, not wondering about what might happen to us in 40 to 50 or so years. That we just wither away into oblivion or that we make a memory that will last even after our time. We make our time here then we're gone. You're only here for a short time. You either make the most of it or you'll be forgotten. You'll just be the people of that time or the peasants of Rome or the people of Paris, the commoners. Inconsequential, paltry, frivolous, nugatory. You'll be placed into a group in which you might not have wanted to belong to. You don't want to be forgotten, you want to be remembered forever. Forget my facetious nature and read between the lines. You don't want to be forgotten, you want to be remembered forever.

My words are there, but no action. Hypocrite. I always promise myself I will, but it never happens. Even as we speak or as I write I'm thinking of doing something, making a change in the world. One person can do so much. Right? Once a friend, who's happens to be an atheist, I might add because this tidbit is an important part of what I'm about to tell you or what my friend told me, I should say. Well he said something to along the lines of: You need to get up and do something with your life and make a change. I know those words probably don't mean much, but they did to me. I wondered why didn't I think like that. I was "religious". At least I appeared to be. I prayed to god. I believed in angels and devils. How could someone who didn't believe in God talk like that? How could he manage to tell me? I mean he has the audacity to tell me? But wait. I forgot to mention that he's also a hypocrite. He hasn't done anything accept talk shit. Well who is he anyways? Who am I? So many questions. Why am I writing this at this moment? Why now? Why does my life seem so insignificant at a time where my life should seem like it's flourishing? I can't remember that last time I've had someone to relate to. Someone I could talk to and they would just know. Just know. Everything.

I think everyone should make the effort to change. Change can have many different meanings. Anything can have many different meanings, nowadays. I'm starting to just blabber. My mind is wandering. I'm just writing the first things that pops in to my head. And just jotting it down. Not worrying about grammar or punctuation. My periods. Are. Being. Added. At. Random. It. Seems. I suppose I want to get a message out. Somewhere someone will hear it maybe and pass it along. Maybe someone will even understand my message.
I want to make it easier for everyone to change themselves so they wont regret their past. So they can say I'm happy with my life, my choices and myself. Easier to write, to volunteer, to make friends, to play sports, to read, to fly, to be themselves.
So, it’s looks like I do a lot of talking. I talk the talk, but do I walk the walk? Do my actions speak louder than my words. No. I’m a hypocrite. I preach all these things and spread the word, but I don’t even follow my own advice. I’m a sham, but that doesn't mean you have to be.

The Rape Delusion

Rape is a subject in many parts of society that doesn’t sit well within human minds. It makes the subject uncomfortable and for the most part if it is not a part of our lives than one does not want to make it so. When a person accuses another person of rape the question comes about well this person was asking for it. This person is usually a woman.
Rape comes in many different forms. Some of them include Sex trafficking, gang rape, and date rape. There people who blame the victim and people who blame the rapist. There have been instances where a person has lied that they’ve been raped in order to gain power. “Some types of rape are excluded from official reports altogether (the FBI's definition, for example, used to exclude all rapes except forcible rapes of females), because a significant number of rapes go unreported even when they are included as reportable rapes, and also because a significant number of rapes reported to the police do not advance to prosecution.” This isn’t much different from other first world countries. However if you move on to countries where religion is law or where the government is corrupt, the idea of rape is merely toyed with and the criminal persecution of rapists doesn’t even pass through the mind of certain people. This, however unfortunate doesn’t exclude first world countries from ignoring rape crimes.
In 1999 American U.N. officials were involved in multiple sex trafficking “businesses” in Bosnia. They purchased, sold, tortured, and raped underage women of Bosnia. They worked along with local Bosnian police officers and other authorities. Most of their horrendous crimes went unpunished because of diplomatic immunity. Other incidents include the rape of men and women in the Armed Forces specifically in U.S. Military. Mostly included women being sexually abused and raped by their superiors and having nothing done about it because of similar circumstances which included too much power and authority given to their commanding officers who at times were rapists themselves. If these people were not the alleged rapist then the blame would automatically be put on the woman. With statements such as “suck it up” or “you asked for it because of your revealing clothing.” Other problems include women who go out drinking and have sex with men, but decide they made a mistake and “cry wolf.” This specific allegation is ridiculous because one cannot provide proof either way which is why it’s important to investigate these crimes as if they happened and you will soon realize that more rapes actually occur as opposed to the people who report rape to gain power over someone they dislike.
As stated before no one can keep track of how many rapes are occurring because the numbers that have been reported is irrelevant because of the amounts that have supposedly unreported. If this is already confusing and overwhelming then one should try to understand that any amount of rape that is taking place whether it be thousands of cases or one case should be taken in account for and be investigated thoroughly for the mere fact that it is psychologically and physically traumatizing to undergo such an experience which most people would never even fathom happening to them. Especially men. I hate to make this a sexist argument, but the fact is more women are raped then men. This shouldn’t belittle the fact that men are raped in prisons and corrective rape exists. However misogynistic, chauvinistic and bigoted people exist in this world and they shouldn’t be taken lightly. As we discuss rape we inevitably must discuss pregnancy at this point. According to Tea party candidate, Todd Akin: “From what I understand from doctors, pregnancy [as a result of rape] is really rare. If it’s legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.” Well, I would like you to imagine something. Imagine someone who you may or may not know and they begin to threaten you with a weapon and they are obviously physically stronger then you. Let’s say they tear you clothes off and force you to do sexually things and you oblige out of fear of death. They force their penis in your anal area forcefully without your consent it causes swelling and extreme pain. Then imagine them “finishing” themselves in you or on top of you. They threaten you some more and leave. You’re forced to reveal this situation to your spouse, friends, and family. Possibly going to the police and filing a report and having to state your case in court in front of many people. And after all this no one believes you. There is not enough physical evidence. No witnesses. You are alone. This situation is unfortunately not uncommon and happens in many different ways discussed here throughout the entire world and justice is almost never sought. Women are being stoned and killed for victimless crimes in the name of religion and a twisted outdated culture. Young children are being raped by priests. These crimes may be unpunished, but I feel as though they need a stronger voice. Spread the word, news and message until change happens. Let them know that we will not stand for it. That’s the least we can do. Personally I have not gone through this horrific crime. I know no one who has, but one too many people are suffering each day and they’ve been ignored for too long. I hope this doesn’t offend those who have suffered this and those who have not, but instead open your eyes for change. Contact senators, congressmen and congresswomen. Protest, post video blogs, discuss, promote.

Nothing is original

"Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to."
-Jim Jarmusch

Welcome to politics and things and such as.
You're probably wondering, what this is all about. Just kidding you don't care. You'll probably stop reading this, because you're too busy for this. Or lazy.

Let's begin. Everything is political. Even if you hate "politics" you've been apart of it. Politics is around us in every form one way or another. Whether we like it or not. It doesn't have to be regime change in Ukraine, it can be regime change at home, with your kids, friends. It could be at work.
Everything is political.
This isn't a poem.

Background on me:

I'm 21 years old. I go to University. I major in Political Science. My interests include: traveling, exercising, tv, movies, politics

My next few posts will be some things that I've written in the past, just random topics including sexual assault, political movements, personal stories.
I like writing so that's what I'm going to do.
Most people don't get my dry, sarcastic humor. I'm like a British guy, but I'm not I'm American.
